Call for Entries for Top ECape Craft Exhibition & Competition
Crafters and designers working in the Eastern Cape Province are invited to submit their best creation for an exhibition at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum, opening on the 20 March 2020.
The LITHUBA LAKHO (THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY): TOP EASTERN CAPE CRAFT EXHIBITION AND COMPETITION, supports the development of top export quality craft from a diverse range of disciplines.
This competition and exhibition is designed to promote excellence in our local craft market and has been initiated by the Eastern Province Development Corporation and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum (Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality)
This is the 5th instalment of this competition: We are once again asking for your most outstanding piece to be displayed on an exhibition of excellence for the public to view and admire. Works will be for sale but as high end once off objects.
Prizes will be awarded for the most outstanding work. There will be four winners in the categories of homeware, contemporary accessories, traditional accessories and apparel.
Each category winner will receive a prize of materials or machinery of their choice to the value of R 20 000.00. The top ten crafters will be profiled in a brochure publication which will include professional photographic images of their work.
HOW TO ENTER:
Selection venues will be identified through the Eastern Cape where appointed selectors will chose works for the exhibition. Selection will take place in the first two weeks of March. Venues locations will be advertised before the end of January 2020.
Please note you will be expected to bring the final work along with a completed entry form to the venue to be considered for selection.
Entry forms will be available at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum and Eastern Cape Development Agency’s offices. The entry forms will also be sent out on email and be available on the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum and Eastern Cape Development Agency website.
